Virgen de los Reyes en la Catedral de Sevilla
Legend claims that King Fernando saw a vision of the Virgin Mary stating that he would conquer Seville. When this prophecy was fulfilled, the King had his best sculptors attempt to reproduce the exact image of what he had seen to express his gratitude to the Virgin, but no one was able to do so. A German artist managed to depict the image and completed the royal commission. Due to the surprising circumstances of the events surrounding the vision, it was declared “a true miracle” by Bishop Don Remondo. On 15 August, the procession of the virgin surrounds the Cathedral, which is closed for cultural visits as well as the Giralda.
